July 7, 1937:   Mrs. E.H. Long, who has been rusticating at Poison Rock on Estel Ridge with Mr. Long, who is stationed at the lookout there, came into Covelo Saturday for a few days.  She says it is lovely and cool in the mountains, which is more than it is here–96 in the shade today.”   (Ukiah Republican Press)

September 7, 1938:   “Ed Long and his son-in-law, Otis Sweeney, drove to Willets Thursday evening for an X-ray of Mr. Long’s arm.  While doing some painting at the Poison Rock Lookout Station a heavy shutter fell and possibly fractured the bone above the wrist in Mr. Long’s arm.”   (Ukiah Republican Press)
