July 7, 1989: “Sheriff’s deputies are investigating reported threats received by a fire lookout at the Spy Rock lookout tower. The tower is operated by the state forestry department. The Spy Rock area is notorious for its marijuana plantations, but available information gave no indication if the reported threats, but no available information gave no indication if the reported threats were linked to marijuana planters.” (Ukiah Daily Journal)
